Downtown Main Street
Revitalization
The City of Ripley, Main Street
Ripley, the Jackson County Commission, a Governor's Partnership
Grant, the Federal Transportation Enhancement Grant, and a generous
private donation have made this project possible. This will include
three blocks of downtown, beginning at the intersection of Route
21/Route 33 to McGinley Memorial Bridge.
Since receiving these funds,
construction and equipment costs have drastically risen. Main Street
Ripley is taking on the responsibility of raising funds to cover
some of the additional costs, part of which includes the purchase of
21 streetlights.
The cost of one streetlight is
$3,200, including a brass plaque at the base of the post. You may
wish to purchase the entire streetlight or you may want to partner
with other donors. A plaque placed in a Main Street location will
recognize other donors; Benefactor $3,000 and over; Gold $1,000;
Silver $500; and Platinum $250. Any amount will be greatly
appreciated. Please
contact Main Street Ripley to donate.

gifts for birthdays, anniversaries, graduation, retirement and
memorials, or a great form of advertising for local businesses. For
an additional charge, symbols may be added to your brick to make it
unique. Bricks cost $65.00 and will be placed on Court Street,
between North and Main.

“It’s a really good race and
everybody seems to like it,” says Jim Groves, one of the organizers

little grade on the way back that makes it tough, plus the heat.”

accepted the day of the race beginning at 10am at the Calvary United
Methodist Church located on the corner of North and Court Streets.

Day/Health Fair – A Festival for Children” will be staged on the
Jackson County Courthouse lawn in Ripley from 9am to 1pm on
Saturday, August 11. The free event will include caricatures,

Bernice Pickens-Parsons Foundation, River Valley Health and Wellness
Center, Jackson Newspapers, Family Resource Network, Century 21
Premier Properties, Krogers, and others. According to Amy Haskins,
Outreach Director for RVHWC, “The goal of the event is to educate
parents and children about health, safety, and wellness while having
a good time.”
Agencies from all over the county
and state will be on hand. Haskins states, “It is a showcase of
what is available to parents to help them with whatever needs they
have for their kids. And, most of the services provided by the
organizations are available to residents at little or no cost.”
Ripley High School Anchor Club and Hi-Y Clubs have annually provided
much needed and appreciated volunteers to help with the event. This
is an event that the MSR Promotion Committee is dedicated to.
Prizes will be awarded throughout
the day which is also a great photograph opportunity for parents.
