Memorial Brick Walk Laser engraved paver bricks are being sold to be placed in the streetscape in the revitalizedHPIM2348 section of Phase II on Main Street in Ripley. Engraved bricks make wonderful gifts for birthdays, anniversaries, graduation, retirement and memorials, or a great form of advertising for local businesses. For an additional charge, symbols may be added to your brick to make it unique. Bricks cost $65.00 and will be placed on Court Street, between North and Main. Annual Spaghetti Dinner/Auction

Epworth United Methodist ChurchSaturday, March 14, 2015 – 6pm .

The dinner menu will include spaghetti, salad, Texas toast, desserts, and a drink. The Organization and Promotion Committees of MSR are working hard to make sure customer service will be top notch!

One of Main Street Ripley’s largest fundraisers, The Silent Auction, will also be held with the proceeds going towards the many projects that MRS sponsors. If you have something that you would like to donate to the Auction, please call us at 372-1637! During the evening, interesting entertainment is showcased. Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased by calling the Main Street office at 372-1637. Anyone wishing to attend is urged to obtain their tickets in advance. People may also contact any Main Street Ripley Board member to obtain tickets to the event.

Annual Community Easter Egg Hunt

Jackson County Courthouse Lawn – Saturday March 28, 2015 – 10am – The Easter Bunny will be coming to Ripley for Main Street Ripley’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt on the JacksonIMG_1782 County Courthouse lawn. Activities will include an appearance by the Easter Bunny, face tattoos, balloon art, and goody bags for the youngsters. There will be two age divisions for the Easter Egg Hunt, ages 2-4 and 5-8. The event is free and made possible by Main Street Ripley, Kroger’s, Ripley High School’s Hi-Y and Anchor Clubs, and the Bernice Pickens-Parsons Foundation. Garden Faire

Jackson County Courthouse lawn/Alpine Theatre – Saturday, April 25, 2015 – Main Street Ripley is teaming up with the Jackson County Master Gardeners to give you an informative and fun day of gardening tips. Speakers at the Alpine will cover topics such as pruning trees, raising mushrooms, extending the growing season and attracting pollinators to your yard. Vendors on the courthouse lawn will have all your garden needs. This is free to the public. For more information or to volunteer, please call the Main Street Ripley Office at 372-1637.

Ripley’s On Sale—Believe It Or Not!

Community Wide Yard Sale – Jackson County Courthouse Lawn – Friday & Saturday May 22-23, 2015 – 8am-5pm. Main Street Ripley will be holding its twelfth annual Ripley’s On Sale – Believe It Or Not! Community-wide yard sale. The annual event is presented in conjunction with area businesses, non-profit groups and clubs, and individuals. The sale will again be held on the lawn of the Jackson County Courthouse. Over eighty spaces will be located on the Jackson County Courthouse lawn. Individuals or groups may reserve 10’ x 10’ spaces for $20. The fee will be $5 more if electricity is required. Additional spaces, after the first, will be at a rate of $10 each. Individuals and neighborhoods are also invited to participate by having yard sales in their own locales. People wishing to do so can let Main Street Ripley know of their sale by May 1 to be included on a free map marking the location of various sales throughout the city. The map will be distributed at various locations. Ripley merchants will be offering special sales on Saturday. Main Street Ripley invites all interested vendors to call 304-372-1637 for details and to reserve their space and join the giant sale or to be listed on the free map.

Annual Firecracker 2-Miler Race

Wednesday, July 4, 2015 – Registration 10am – The annual event, sponsored by Main Street Ripley will begin just prior to the Grand Parade that travels through downtown Ripley. More than 100 runners and walkers participated last year. As always, a great crowd (possibly as many as 40,000 spectators), line up to watch the race. This year, cash prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in both the men’s and women’s divisions of the race portion with $100 going to the first place runner. Second place will be worth $75 and third $50. Trophies will also be presented to the top three finishers in the following age divisions: 14 and under, 15-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; and 60 and over. The entry fee for the two-mile race is $15 and $10 for those taking part in the one-mile fun walk. The first 100 participants will receive a T-Shirt. “It’s a really good race and everybody seems to like it,” says Jim Groves, one of the organizers of the event. “It’s a lot harder than what it looks. There’s a little grade on the way back that makes it tough, plus the heat.” Advanced registration is encouraged. Registration will be accepted the day of the race. Annual Golf Tournament

Green Hills Country Club – Saturday, August 1, 2015 – 1:00 PM – Main Street Ripley will be sponsoring a four-person scramble at Green Hills Country Club on Saturday, August 13,2011. The event will get underway with a 11:30 am shotgun start. For the past few years, Gene, Tim, and Jim Groves have been instrumental in the success of the tournament. Working with them are the volunteers on the Organization Committee of MSR. Entry fee is $50 per person and all teams are asked to have a combined handicap of 40 or more for their quartet of golfers. Various on-course prizes will be awarded, and the top three teams in both the men’s and women’s divisions will receive cash prizes as well. There will be refreshments on the course and lunch will be provided.

I 77 Auto Group/MSR Annual Car

I 77 Auto Fairplain – Saturday, September 18, 2015 – Registration 9AM – The Organization Committee of Main Street Ripley will be sponsoring its annual Car Show at the I 77 Chevy car lotIMG_0190 in Ripley. Registration will begin at 9 am, judging will be at 1 pm, and awards will be given at 2 pm. The entry fee for both cars and motorcycles is $10. Trophies will be presented to the top GM, Ford, Chrysler, truck, and top 20 entries. There will also be special awards. Concessions will be available. For more information, contact MSR at 372-1637.

Ripley Merchants Holiday Open House

Saturday, December 5, 2015 – Annual Snowball Drop – 11:00 AM corner of N. Court & North St. Ripley’s merchants would like to invite all shoppers in the area to the “Ripley Merchants Holiday Open House”. Several area merchants are hosting the open house and as an added incentive, will be conducting drawings for $25 gift certificates. This year’s theme is “Stuff your Stockings in Ripley.” Come and see what your hometown businesses have to offer! Main Street Ripley and the merchants have also teamed up to help the Ripley Rotary Club’s Adopt-a-Family Project by sponsoring a Silent Stocking Auction. Stay tuned for more information on this worthwhile project. Last year, a check for $1,215 was presented to the Rotary Club and we know we can double that this year with your help! This year we have added the First Annual Snowball Drop. Santa will climb to the top of the fire ladder and drop his sack filled with snowballs on the crowd (ping pong balls). Each snowball will have a discount for free item from local merchants – good through the remainder of the year.

Ripley Holiday Parade

December 5, 2015 – With Santa – After Parade @ Alpine Theater – Ripley’s Holiday Parade, sponsored by Main Street Ripley, will take place on December 1st, beginning at 5:00 pm. As the event draws nearer and plans are finalized, more information will be placed on our website. The Memorial Service, sponsored by Parsons-Waybright and Vail Funeral Homes, will take place at the Gazebo on the Jackson County Courthouse lawn immediately following the parade. More information will follow on this event. The City of Ripley’s annual Visit with Santa will take place at the Alpine Theatre immediately following the parade. The mayor invites all children to come and have their picture taken with Santa (free!) and his Elves will be there to give them a bag of goodies.
